No big changes from version 21.3. I've updated all the web pages and hopefully have not broken any links. Let me know if you see any problems. Also, the web site stats provided by HitBox have been discontinued. I don't like having an advertisement at the bottom of the web pages. I don't know what's up. Try http://www.webattack.com/get/firedaemon.shtml to get the utility. _________________________________________________________________________ Unsubscribe & list info -- http://www.scruz.net/~luke/signup.htm Mersenne Prime FAQ -- http://www.tasam.com/~lrwiman/FAQ-mers ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Sep 2001 18:15:23 +0200 From: "Lars Lindley" Subject: Re: Mersenne: Firedaemon > I don't know what's up. I noticed a bad thing in WinXP regarding prime95. When you run prime95 as a user and mark "start at bootup" you get a quite peculiar situation. When I login prime95 starts as it should. Then if I log in as another user at the same time prime95 starts again in the new user, thus having two instances working on the same number and using the same files. This is not a very good situation as you only get half the work done and it might (?) screw up the save-files. Surely you would then have one copy running irrespective of how many users happened to be "logged in" - even zero :) ? I presume the Win XP problem is that "start at bootup" is in effect putting a shortcut into the user's own, or "all users" StartUp folder, so that it gets run for each user.
